...Liturgical Living | January...

January will end our  celebration of Christmas. I felt prepared for November and December. Ha. January was right around the corner. I actually forgot today was Epiphany until I was doing the readings with the kids this morning. A long term goal is to celebrate more of the Christmas Season after Christmas.

These are the day(s) we will celebrate this season:

Our neighbor gave us a little gingerbread farm, which has little to do with Epiphany. However, I wanted to do it on a special day, so this works out well.

Holy Heros to explain the chalk blessing.
This year, we want to do the chalk over our door.
A traditional way of doing this is to use chalk to write above the home’s entrance, 20 + C + M + B + 16. The letters C, M, B have two meanings. They are the initials of the traditional names of the three magi: Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar. They also abbreviate the Latin words Christus mansionem benedicat, “May Christ bless the house.” The “+” signs represent the cross and 2016 is the year.
***This month will be pretty simple for us as we have a few things going on. I will add to this as time permits.
