...riding his bike...

...
Gabe started riding bikes on Thursday. As soon as Steve got home, they put together his new green bike. He had a balance bike, but honestly has NEVER shown any interest in doing anything other than sitting on it. He was finally ready and kept asking for when we could practice riding real bikes.

Steve and he started out on the driveway. He was ever so patient and supportive. It was one of those moments where you fall deeper in love with your spouse. I was just so proud of how he helped Gabe. He pedaled ever so slowly up and down the driveway, with Steve inches away for the rest of the evening.

The next morning, they were out by 650 and rode until Steve left for work. I think took the role of walking up and down with him. He had it mastered by the time Steve left for work. He spent every spare moment on Friday and Saturday riding and riding. We finally moved to the patio on Friday afternoon, to get out of the 90 degree heat. He has ridden constantly and adorns his helmet as soon as he wakes up.

...21|52...

...
gianna...1.5...She snuck into the pantry while I was swapping laundry and pilfered a bag of chocolate chips....all over the floor and her face. She then decided to compose her next symphony. I love how she loves to play the piano.

gabe...3.5...He lives in water clothes and has is the best firefighter around.  He is really into counting right now and needs me to explain things showing it on my fingers. How many minutes? How many hours? How many people? How many miles?

...antique car show...

...
Once a month, our township hosts a charity antique car show at the local high school. We attempted to attend last year, but I didn't realize that it wasn't every Thursday. This year, I was determined to make it! Fortunately, the weather cooled off just enough to justify walking on a parking lot for an hour. The gently breeze was so wonderful.

The kids and I headed to the show late yesterday afternoon. I have a love of antique cars, specifically corvettes and old trucks. The cars were still shuffling in, but by the time we left, I would guess there were over thirty. The owners were very friendly and loved that the kids were interested. Gabe got a brief lesson on different types of car treads (learned what a dog bone tread was).

The kids had a blast and each had a few favorites. Gianna picked a dandelion and carried it around most of the time. A charger revved into the parking lot and made quite a scene with the kids. They weren't too sure about all of the noise, but eventually were giggling.

...watching daddy golf...

...
Steve has a few golf outings a year for work and the kids love it when he breaks out the clubs. We meander out to the ball field and watch him hit a few. Gabe loves to play with him and never wants to stop for the night. Gianna was most interested in throwing a ball, dancing while she sang "london bridge" and of course, her dog. We ate a quick dinner and the kids were too excited to change out of their water clothes. Gabe needed to wear a cap like dad, which meant he let Gianna wear his beloved cowboy hat. She was quite proud.

I loved the few minutes as the night started to cool off. We giggled and enjoyed some fun family time. It won't be long and Gabe will be actually hitting. Evenings like these are so precious.

...zoo day...

...
We ventured to the zoo on Monday with some friends. Unfortunately, the crowds were INSANE. I mean absolutely INSANE. Shoulder to shoulder people, buses and buses of kids. I don't know if it was the field day for the county schools, but something was up.

We made the best of the crowds. We saw lots of animals in the few hours we were there. We will be going back. Soon. This is one of the top zoo's in the country for kids, and it was evident. Shortly after we arrived, we made it to the arctic section and already needed a snack. I blame a growth spurt. Gabe happily munched on his apple at watched the seals play. We walked for about another hour and then took a lunch break. The kids were troopers. It was quite warm (mid 80s, not the predicted low seventies), but they were mostly all smiles.

Gabe was really interested in seeing giraffes, lions, and the tigers. Gianna loved the flamingos. She squealed with extreme joy. The polar bears were quite fun as the baby was playing with his mom and diving off her into the pool.

The crowds weren't that conducive to pictures as it was hard keeping an eye on everyone. But, here are a few snaps.

...lately loves...

...

I just loves this picture. It just sums up their personalities sooo much. Gabe loves his puppy and constantly asks for photos with her. Gianna is such a sweet little goofball. She loves to walk around with objects on her head....blankets, buckets...anything she and. She yells Peekabooooo.

We spend the weekend enjoying the weather.

We started on the toyroom table and I am so excited. We hope to have it finished this weekend. I have been looking for a table on craigslist for months now. Nothing was in my budget, or the right size.

I made this...amazing. Amazing. Try it!

Aren't these the sweetest??? I think they might go on Gianna's wall.

I just loved Britt's post. Loved. We have always been close to a priest, and love that Britt helps foster their kids' relationship!!

Do you have kids placemats that you love? Do share. Mine are taking a beating.

...teaching her to blow bubbles...

...
We picked up some bubbles this past weekend as our jug from last summer was finally empty. Like most kids, these two love bubbles. I think I could blow them for hours.

They had both just awakened from afternoon naps, and I was trying to think of something fun. I blew bubbles for quite some time until Gabe wanted to teach Gianna. I took about 12000 pictures, hoping that I could catch her first bubble. She hasn't quite mastered it, but she tried! She only managed to taste a handful of times. Gabe was so incredibly patient with her.

Maybe next time.
