...

gabe...4...gabe had a big week. he rode a horse for the first time. he rode my parent's mini last summer, but this was different. i have been riding at a friends barn a few days a week. they own a 20 year old mare that is a lesson horse. after i gave two girls a lesson on her, gabe got to cool her down. he rode around (me holding his back walking next to him while someone else led her) the arena and was so ecstatic. after he got off, he said, "mom, i'm a real cowboy now!" he was hesitant to do it, but once he was on he didn't want to stop!!! my heart can't be happier.

gianna...2...she has started to say "Ooohhh Taaayyy" when you ask her do do something. she is currently calling my mom every night and asking her to sing her three bed time songs (jesus loves me; abcs; jingle bells). she gets so excited when nanny says yes. she wasn't interested in riding, but she is finally comfortable around the horses and loves petting them!!

...party prep fun...

...
we were in charge of planning steve's company holiday party this year. we have been working for months and i am ready!
today, the kid helped me put the finishing touches on the photo props. we have a clue theme, so these were a fun little set.

we of course had to model them ;)

 some outtakes

isaac was napping during our morning shenanigans. gabe really wanted him to be in a photo so he sat patiently and held a prop for him and tried to get him to smile. we weren't that successful, but to him these meant the world!

...moments like this...

...
we were in the afternoon naptime hustle. this week, i made sure to get a photo with each kid. i really didn't think they enjoyed it. my camera was still attached to the tripod. as gabe was climbing into bed, he asks,

"mom, can you take a picture of you and me just looking at my lego?"
sure, fella.

just this morning, i took a few extra minutes to actually fix my hair. gianna and i spent a few minutes painting our nails. i have my moments of great mothering, like us all. i also have my moments of utter disgust with myself.

i learned more about myself in the the last two weeks than i have at any stage of my life.
i wasn't always pleasant around them, but i am thankful for their forgiveness.
a work in progress.
i want them to remember me as trying to be joyful. trying to be the best version of myself. trying to show them how much i do truly adore each and everyone.
the middle of the night croup coughing fits, bathtub cool offs, nursing sessions, and the like had me completely worn after three straight weeks as the virus picked them off one by one. i felt i had nothing left to give them. i would have been so lost with out steve. he truly was my better half.
it was in those moments that gabe whispered to me, "being a mom is really hard work. i love you, mom"
it is. i do too.

...3|52...

...
it has been quite a month.
we are finally over the worst of this virus and their sweet personalities are returning!!
this is totally out of my comfort zone, but this week i decided to get photos with the kids.
i wanted to wait until i had more than three hours of sleep a night...had time to do my hair or anything, but i knew in ten years, i wouldn't remember any of that.
isaac...3 months...he is the smiliest right now. he is just starting to do the deep belly laugh. my i love that sound.

gianna...2...you must as 3000 questions a day about "what is this?"....a teapot.."tea pot." you carefully repeat everything i say.
gabe...4..."i just love you a lot." he tells me that so often. he wanted to sit in a certain part of his bedroom and have a specific photo. cutie.

...weekly loves...

...

this is on the menu for the week. i hated it as a child, but it is sounding more delicious every day!

these  sail pouf ottomans popped up on my Pinterest feed the other day. they actually might be a solution for our toyroom seating. they want $1800 A PIECE for these fellows. i think i can attempt quiiittee a few for that price ;).

i picked this up on a whim a few weeks ago...super clearance for $14...and I actually like it. i didn't think peplums would work, but this one seems to!

plaid seems to be everywhere. my number of nursing friendly tops seem to be retiring all at once. i found one similar to this, but in coral and blue. super cute. it is shockingly long enough! double win.

my sweet friend just welcomed a beautiful baby boy and has been taking so many perfect photos WITH them.......i am challenging myself to get one with each of the kids.

my husbands company part is coming up. this year, i have decided to use this company, after ordering/trying like fifty dresses. i really hope it works!!!

...2|52...

...
isaac...3 months...little man gave us quite the scare early morning monday with croup. we spent the first six hours of the day in the ER. fortunately, he responded to the steroids and has been on the mend ever since. in spite of it all, he has been trying to be so happy. he also rolled over officially this week.

gianna...2...she has a favorite shirt right now....her "twinkle twinkle little star shirt." it is just a shirt with little colored stars, but it is her love for the moment. she read the wheels on the bus to me outloud this week. i love her.
gabe...4...he is growing so fast right now, he has a hard time keeping up. he is asking for seconds and thirds at dinner. i have been having to wake him up from his nap every day. he still talks to papa every single night. he tells me that he is never leaving me and will stay with me forever. my sweet baby boy.

...week2:documentary...

...
week2: documentary
we have been sick this week. we started off the week with issac in the ER for croup. there were definitely some feelings of angst from our gianna experience a year prior. fortunately, we were discharged by 530AM. the one dose of steroids were sufficient and he has been recovering from this virus all week. unfortunately, he shared it with his siblings. gabe still takes a 2 (he wishes it were 3) hour nap every day. yesterday, he melted before my eyes. i crept in to check on him (with my camera).
he said this morning, "mom, i want to stay with you forever."

...telling time...

...
we recently added this little gem to gianna's bedroom as she was struggling to not wake up from naps/nighttime and wake her siblings to enjoy life with her.

so far it is working well.

anyhow. gabe told me that he now wanted a real alarm clock. "like an oldfashioned one."
so i told him he needed to learn how to tell time and therefore practice his numbers.
so, practice we did. he is a natural. i was really excited is this is the first time he has been interested in learning something with structure.
we also have a rule that he can use sharpies anytime he wants to practice numbers and letters, as these are really coveted around the house.

i was so impressed with his copying skills.
we labeled our clocks: wake up; naptime; wake up from nap; done talking to papa/bedtime.

...crunching ice...

...
i love watching my kids experiencing things for the first time. gianna didn't really remember snow and ice. every day we have snow on the ground, she runs to the window and says,,
"it is christmas!!! mom look!!"

we have had a round of croup with isaac that sent us into the ER, so we haven't ventured out much this week. however, today, the weather was pleasant and we snuck outside to stomp on ice in the sand box while he took his morning nap.

the squeals and the laughter. we through ice. we stomped every little puddle.

oh to see the world through their eyes.

one of her favorite possessions, her hot pink boots.

she has been carrying around a (nonfunctional) grilling thermometer, pretending it is her cell phone.

gabe is such a wonderful big brother. he showed so much encouragement and enthusiasm when she would stomp and squeal. he loved the sound. he stood right next to her "just in case she fell."

"he look mom, i can see through this. i see you!"

...1|52...

...
I am going to do this project again this year. I love looking back at the pictures through out the year and read the little note about them. Some weeks, it is harder than others, but I will cherish these little glimpses.
isaac...3mo...you are pretty smiley. you start cooing as soon as you hear dads voice. you are starting to inquisitively look at your surroundings and toys.
gianna...2...you have entered a week of becoming exceedingly helpful. you have a natural gift of knowing what i need. you sprint for diapers before i can ask. you love to help care of your brother. you are so full of life and energy.

gabe...4..."mom..i have a mustache like papa." you have started to dress up every day. a button up polo and hair gel...every morning. such a handsome little mr.

...New Year Bowling...

...
We have a mini tradition of bowling on  New Years Day. This year, the kids really enjoyed it!

It was a full house, so there was lots of activity.
Gabe was really focused on pushing his ball down the lane by himself.

Gianna squealed with delight as soon as she released it, spun around and sprinted toward me. She had one pointer thrust in the air and yelled, "one, mommy!! one!!!"
I don't know if she actually watched more than two balls hit the pins.

To top it off, the lane next to us was hosting a birthday party and shared some cake.

Isaac took a nap for most of the festivities....
A great start to the new year!
